About
Sara is a rebellious 13-year-old girl. Her mother is dead and her father is in prison. One night Sara sees the headlights of a car coming up the dirt road, then the red dot of a fire appears. Sara picks up her rifle and leaves the house.
Shortly after she shoots the “fools” who were holding two girls captive, for ransom, to abuse them or maybe just by mistake.
Thus begins her long escape that will become a lonely journey, at times desperate, towards the only place that perhaps belongs to her.
The novel is an adventure in the nature of the Apennines, which Sara knows very well: there is no plant that she has not already seen or used, no animal that she cannot hunt, no shelter that she cannot improvise.
An epic journey, a novel about the possibility of living in symbiosis with nature, of accepting its laws, of abandoning society, at least for the time necessary to find oneself. It takes courage: “Don’t think twice”.
